serve

all-star workThe book of Ephesians reminds us that the church — in every time and every place — has been gifted by God with everything necessary to be the church. That is, God draws together people who are able to lead, to teach, to preach, to care for those in need, and to gather new members to hear and experience God’s good news. We are ‘the church’ — not the building — and we are gathered together in common cause to heal a broken world.

ramp & signsEach Christian is called to recognize, strengthen, and share the gifts they’ve received from God — gifts given to our care for the care of others. The community of faith helps its individual members discover their gifts through consistent invitation to serve in new and challenging ways, and by assuring an honest and supportive environment for reflection and refinement.

“But be doers of the word, and not merely hearers who deceive themselves. For if any are hearers of the word and not doers, they are like those who look at themselves in a mirror; for they look at themselves and, on going away, immediately forget what they were like. But those who look into the perfect law, the law of liberty, and persevere, being not hearers who forget but doers who act — they will be blessed in their doing.” James 1:22-5
