trinity gardens comes to life! help it to grow!!
work is well underway at trinity gardens — clearing our vacant lots, planting our beds, preparing to add more beds, and planning for the addition of a new water system.
what has up to now been two vacant parcels of land at the corner of Elm & Gardner will, over the next couple seasons, be transformed into a combination of open green space and productive vegetable gardens. the vision for the land, which is owned by Holy Trinity and the Diocese of Spokane, is to make it a central gathering place for neighbors in this small pocket of West Central — providing opportunity for tending garden beds together and building community around a common cause.
the hope for trinity gardens is to help make a clear link between the food we produce with our own hands and the food we prepare and serve at our Wednesday night dinner table program. in time, we would envision using our kitchen as a place for neighborhood cooking classes, teaching folks how to convert their garden vegetables into easy, delicious, and healthy meals for their families.
felicia reilly, our AmeriCorps volunteer, is in the process of soliciting donations to help expand trinity garden’s productive capacity. We’d like to add another twenty garden beds at a rough cost of $25-30/bed. So, if you’d like to help get the gardens off the ground, please don’t hesitate to send a check to Holy Trinity for ‘trinity garden beds.’ Your donations would be greatly appreciated!
