weekly reflection: easter 2b

As resurrection people, we share in Christ’s new life not just by thought, but also by deed — by fully identifying with and participating in this new life — or, to put it another way, by loving Him. Sounds easy enough, right? Yet, it seems to be the real rub and fundamental shortfall for most of us.

every spring on the sunday after easter, the Church hears the story of ‘doubting’ Thomas, who seems to speak for most of us when he demands some sort of contact with the risen Lord. of course, he touches and believes.

We often spend a lot of time in the practice of religion focusing on ourselves — on the strength of our faith, on the content of our beliefs, on the goodness of our behavior — often to the exclusion of giving sufficient focus to God.

faith & environment network (fen) presents 2nd annual conference
