There’s good reason to believe that all our centuries of great Christian thinking have done little to bring us closer to the Kingdom of God — and have done much to increase the distance yet to go.

In those days Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee and was baptized by John in the Jordan. Mark, ch.1

We celebrate, this upcoming Sunday (as we do every year on the first Sunday after Epiphany), the Feast of Our Lord’s Baptism — and we hear every year something about Jesus going to the Jordan to be baptized by John the Baptist.

The various Christian ministries of West Central Christian Ministries and any other interested groups/congregations will gather at Salem Congregation, 1428 W. Broadway Avenue, Spokane, at 9 am on Monday, January 19th (ML King Jr Day). After a brief time of prayer and song, we will walk together down to the INB Performing Arts Center for the Spokane-wide rally which begins at 10 am. Those who are unable to make the walk are encouraged to join us at the rally.

Plans are rounding into shape for the Cathedral’s presentation of Trinity Institute’s Radical Abundance: a theology of Sustainability, set for Thursday, January 22nd and Friday, January 23rd. The web-cast runs from 9am to 4:45pm on Thursday the 22nd, and from 10am to 6pm on Friday the 23rd.

super bowl sunday — bring the goods!

join millions of others across the country on Super Bowl Sunday, February 1st, for a massive in-gathering of non-perishable foods for area foodbanks.

at Holy Trinity, we will celebrate Super Bowl Sunday with one combined 10am service (no 7pm service on February 1st) at which we will gather and bless food donations to benefit Our Place Ministries — the west central food & clothing bank.

beginning tuesday, march 3rd, holy trinity will host xnty101, a short Lenten series about the basics of Christian faith — addressing such questions as, for example, ‘what in the world is Lent?’ as well as a very broad-stroke overview of Christian origins, Bible, who’s Jesus?, and relationship with God.
