The word of the Lord came to Jonah a second time, saying, “Get up, go to Ninevah, that great city, and proclaim to it the message that I tell you”… “Forty days more, and Ninevah shall be overthrown!” Jonah, ch.3

This week’s reading from Jonah picks up on a theme begun in last week’s story from 1 Samuel 3:1-20 — speaking truth to power.

We celebrate, this upcoming Sunday (as we do every year on the first Sunday after Epiphany), the Feast of Our Lord’s Baptism — and we hear every year something about Jesus going to the Jordan to be baptized by John the Baptist.

The various Christian ministries of West Central Christian Ministries and any other interested groups/congregations will gather at Salem Congregation, 1428 W. Broadway Avenue, Spokane, at 9 am on Monday, January 19th (ML King Jr Day). After a brief time of prayer and song, we will walk together down to the INB Performing Arts Center for the Spokane-wide rally which begins at 10 am. Those who are unable to make the walk are encouraged to join us at the rally.

live from Trinity Church, Wall Street — the annual Trinity Conference

Plans are rounding into shape for the Cathedral’s presentation of Trinity Institute’s Radical Abundance: a theology of Sustainability, set for Thursday, January 22nd and Friday, January 23rd. The web-cast runs from 9am to 4:45pm on Thursday the 22nd, and from 10am to 6pm on Friday the 23rd.

super bowl sunday — bring the goods!

at Holy Trinity, we will celebrate Super Bowl Sunday with one combined 10am service (no 7pm service on February 1st) at which we will gather and bless food donations to benefit Our Place Ministries — the west central food & clothing bank.
