Diocesan Directors vote unanimously to Support Holy Trinity
On Friday, September 14th, the Diocesan Directors of the Corporation — the elected body who oversees the real property of the diocese — voted unanimously to support the Holy Trinity re-start with a $30,000 grant to underwrite capital improvements in Holy Trinity’s parish hall kitchen and restrooms.
The improvements in the kitchen and restrooms will enable Holy Trinity to provide hospitality for very basic community needs. Early proposals include after-school tutoring, adoptive parent counseling, family game nights, community concerts and lectures, community movie nights, community forums, wedding receptions, and other such basic community events. The Directors were especially impressed with the focus on ministry ‘between Sundays.’ That is, ministry that attends first to the community’s actual needs, and only then to its deeper spiritual needs.
Holy Trinity is poised to play a pivotal part in transforming the core of Spokane’s West Central neighborhood. By investing in Holy Trinity’s property, the Directors have enable Holy Trinity to invest, in turn, in the people of the West Central neighborhood, providing a focalpoint for the good work that has long been underway in the area.
Stay tuned for an open house to be held at the completion of the project. Pictures and reports of progress will be made along the way.
Thank you, Directors, for investing in the future of Holy Trinity and for making, once and for all, a clear statement of the Diocese’s vision to support mission and ministry in places most ready to proclaim the good news of new life in the midst of death and despair.
